The 1:AM conference kicked off at (confusingly) 9am in London today. The conference opening was delivered by Jeremy Farrar, Director of the Wellcome Trust.
Jeremy focussed on where altmetrics might look to in future – from the ‘huge value’ in new approaches, to the role the Wellcome wants to play in defining altmetrics and being creative in its own approach, to the dangers we face in further overwhelming researchers with more and more data. Jeremy also noted the importance of considering the implementation of policy into practice, and questioned whether there is perhaps there a role for funders there.
We’ll be posting more from our guest bloggers for each session throughout the next two days, so check in here to read the latest from the event as it happens.
We’ve had a great turn out and are looking forward to some interesting discussions! And don’t forget you can tune in to the live stream via YouTube.
